The Derby County Blog on BBC Radio Derby Sportscene

I had a great time doing BBC Radio Derby Sportscene before Derby County's home game with Swansea City, with my mate Jimmy (who was there in person in the studio - I was beamed in from Leicester).

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00308jc It's still a bit nuts to think that these days, I get invited to speak on the station that was once the home of the great Graham Richards, that I spent so many hours listening to as a kid. Jimmy's grandad was a journalist and helped to launch Radio Derby in the '70s, so the feeling must be even stronger for him.

My first appearance on the radio was at the invitation of the late Colin Bloomfield, who was a wonderful guy and a tragic loss at such an early age. I think I was the first fan to be asked to appear as a panelist on Sportscene - alongside Roger Davies, no less. They didn't realise that I got the train down from Manchester to do it, and were completely bemused when I asked it they'd be able to cover my travel expenses 😂 After that, they got me to dial in from the BBC's building at Media City in Salford.

Talking about Derby is fun, and probably good, free therapy too. Maybe it's time to reboot my podcast?
